It's true and sad. Props to Christian for spreading the word, but lack-of-props to the PBA students for not picking up their bibles and critically digesting the text. Two things usally happen when Christians don't read the bible: they stop believing in God altogether, or they become ignorant and disagreeable, not realizing that the root of scripture is Gods love, not any manner of hate or ignorance.

Having read some of the past posts from "identified" commentators only one thing comes to mind. People who live in glass houses... Better get fitted for your robe before taking your front row seat in chapel. "Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely."
"'You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell."
From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths. And he went on to Mount Carmel and from there returned to Samaria.
Yeah...I can post bible passages that have nothing to do with the conversation too
I think that people should have a Bible they can write in. Then whenever you read new verse circle the reference. I have been doing that and I have over half the bible read now.
I think that people should have a textbook (preferably scientific) they can write in. Then whenever you read an empirical fact, circle the reference. I have been doing that for several years and I have only half the dogmatism now. (It's comparable to cutting calories!)
You should read through the entire On the Origin of Species over Christmas break.

"Two things usally happen when Christians don't read the bible: they stop believing in God altogether, or they become ignorant and disagreeable..."
And yet, you could posit the exact same argument for Christians who vigorously (and religiously, lol) read the Bible...Let's just play it safe and assume individual differences account for some of the variance in this problem!
The Bacon is the official, authoritative and credible news source of the students of PBA. It is written by all students who wish to contribute their work.
Never before have you seen such a devotion to truth, accuracy, might and valor embodied in the written word and occasional picture. We strive for accuracy and integrity in every article. If you did not hear it from us, it's probably true.
If we make fun of you here at The Bacon, it means we like you. Seriously, it's all in good fun.
"Seeing my picture on The Bacon is surely one of the proudest moments of my life." –Dr. Mahanes, former Vice President of Religious Life
A request:
We'd like to ask those who comment on our stories to refrain from cheap shots against individuals. The Bacon is about challenging ideas, not slamming other people.
"What a stagnant world it would be if we all just left things that we didn't "like" rather than working to improve ideas, discuss, and debate them." -Bekah Grim

Everyone can write for The Bacon. We want anyone interested in joining the Bacon staff to email us story ideas, writing, pictures and more.
Catch a funny picture? Send it.
Running Russian sighting? Tell us.
Have an idea? Lets hear it.
And of course, we are always open to criticism.
Don't like us? Tell us!
Love us? Tell us twice!
We want to hear your feedback.
Whether you're a disgruntled administrator, a student, or a faculty member who secretly loves us (but can't tell anyone because you don't have tenure), we want to hear it.

This is amazing in its simplicity. Hilarious, Bacon. <3
okay, I'll ask.
What's "Christian's word of the day?"
Christian's a guy who works in the caf that memorizes a Bible verse every day and tells it to all the people eating there.
Fabulous.
<3
Simple and sweet.
Christian is my hero.
Loves it!
Glorious, simply glorious.
So sad but so true. Thank God for Christian and his Word of the Day!
Excellent!
This might be the best Bacon "article" ever. Well done, and so true.
I think Tevye went to PBA -
"As Abraham said, "I am a stranger in a strange land..."
"Moses said that."
"Ah. Well, as King David said, "I am slow of speech, and slow of tongue."
"That was also Moses."
"For a man who was slow of tongue, he talked a lot."
...and the ultimate proof...
"Well somewhere [in the Bible] it says something about a Chicken!"
One of the jewels of PBA (along with the Bacon, of course). Awesome.
Just goes to show how much impact one passionate man can have...
I can't wait until he shares Leviticus 12:3.

Why do people always try to be mysterious about stuff? That post makes no sense.
It's easy to pee why everybody like the Bacon.
It's not easy to pee with kidney stones.
I meant comment, by the way.
really? is a stupidface.
the article was good.
My favorite Bible verses are the ones where other people get punished or sent to Hell.

I sailed through 4 years without cracking a bible once, and you can, too!
You should read through the entire New Testament over Christmas break.

pining, was there anything good that you said?
pomp romp,
Depends, are you subscribing to an objective definition of "good?"
Seeing how the term is invariably determined by subjective self-preference, you tell me...(it's clear what you think, lol).
Also, are you using the term in the moral or aesthetic sense? A little clarity would be greatly appreciated.
Was that a serious question? I hope not.
Your use of this term is nebulous at best.
ahhh the platitudes and epigrams that ooze out of sophomoric minds that are still in the germination phase, awaiting the bloom!
I miss the days when it was OK to attend PBA without being a Christian. Or a Republican. Or a Bible enthusiast. People were smarter then.
Even (especially) the Christians, Republicans, and Bible enthusiasts.
Me and my gang of Republican Christian "Bible Enthusiasts" call ourselves the "Trips."
Ah what about the percentage of people who learn about the Bible by watching the Left Behind movies? Critical masterpieces there....
This makes me laugh.
I love Christian.
