What's so bad about a little bit of academic prestige?

There is not much utility found in an academic degree associated with a gloried Bible school. I realize such a perception would not accurately reflect the ethos of this university but as far as future graduate school and job applications are concerned, perception IS reality.

Higher academic admission standards and a greater emphasis on research would be appreciated by many students who aspire to work in fields other than ministry and attain advanced degrees other than theology or religious studies.

Why was Dr. Bob Myers still there after 2004, when he was clearly a sociopath??

Why was there a business professor teaching when he was living with someone, but not married to them? If you claim this as "cleaning up the campus" you are sorely mistaken.

Why was Allen McEniry pushed into a corner and for all intents & purposes ostracized when his wife announced she was resigning to go teach at a different college? Is this a Christian attitude? Do we push people and their spouses aside when they announce they are going somewhere else? How is this a loving, christian attitude?

As far as being asleep the last few years, I haven't been.

Clark NEVER personally interviewed EVERY prospective employee, nor was it required that they be Christians. Trust me. The individual that was put in a position of authority over me, was clearly not a Christian, nor did they speak as one, nor for that matter was our department director. They may have said they were, but were far from committed. They didn't go to chapel at all. Ever.

I recall one question was asked: "We are a Christian University, and we require that you abide by our morals. Are you ok with that?" Is that a verification that you are a Christian? When my spouse and I attended, we were required to write our testimonies, before being accepted. Many other Christian organizations require this, why didn't PBA at the time? When I was hired under Corts, I was required to submit my testimony. I'm not saying that a written testimony is an absolute verification that you are a Christian, but it's a good indicator that you want to be in that environment. Some would say this is being narrow minded and unaccepting of others (like Hindus, Muslims, etc). But why should we sacrifice the truth for business? If we are truly believers in Christ, we should desire truth above all!!

When I hired people, I did ask about their faith even before Clark was on the scene, because I wanted and desired that all employees be Christians to help and witness to those students who were not Christians come to faith in Christ.

Regarding the following:

1. PBA might become the "Harvard of the South?" Oh no! We might be respected at all academically!

This might ring truer if some posters actually spell checked before posting.

2. Lu Hardin was a Democrat who switched to the Republican Party in 1996. Look it up.

Agreed, but that is not the point.
The fact is, we all know how completely HONEST and TRANSPARENT politicians are. Do you really want a politician in charge? Someone who says one thing and does another?

5. I'm afraid for the future of PBA because of the ignorance dominating the campus today. If the school keeps turning into a "Jesus Camp" I might have to stop telling people I graduated from there.

My spouse and I already have stopped telling people we graduated from there. We are very sad about the direction the PBA trustees took. Especially the 2 trustees I know personally. I thought they knew better.

Please don't misunderstand me. I am not requesting PBA to become like Pensacola Bible College, or BJU.

Last anonimous must have been asleep for the past few years. Anyone who was at PBAU knows that when Clark arrived no faculty attended chapel, there were a number of non Christian faculty and immorality was present at PBA. He required faculty and staff to attend chapel, only hired committed Christians, got rid of immoral and dishonest employees and moved the school strongly into the evangelical camp. He personally interviewed every prospective employee and faculty memeber to determine their professional and spiritual qualifications to be at PBA. Pastors of Florida congregations especially noticed the change and nationally PBA's reputation changed both spiritually and academically. Let's give the new president an opportunity to continue the move toward a clearly Christ centered university with rigorous academic standards. I never heard Clark say PBA should become a Harvard but as a staff member I did hear him say the Biola was a Christian urban university that is setting a course PBA might follow.

As a PBA alum under Dr. Corts, and former PBA employee under Dr. Corts and Dr. Clark, I am very concerned about Lu Hardin's posting as the new President of PBA.

I was also concerned about Dr. Clark's posting. I once heard him (Dr. Clark) say he wanted PBA to become the Harvard of the south.

What was Harvard originally? It was once a theological seminary.
What is it now? One of the most liberal Universities in the country.

I'm all for Grace and Forgiveness, but what does this say about the character of the Board of Trustees?? Dr. Corts was most likely the very best leader PBA has ever had.

I'm afraid PBA left it's Christ-centered emphasis when Clark took office, and certain individuals were hired into positions of leadership, and administration, that had no Christian morals, but, rather, were reading and studying things about hindu and middle eastern mysticism, and attempting to "convert" us to that way of thinking.

I was hoping once Clark left, things would get better for PBA. Instead, I find myself absolutely horrified, and heartbroken over the path PBA is intending to follow.

I'm afraid PBA gets what it deserves; just like the US gets what it deserves for President. As a nation we've turned our backs on God. I feel PBA is also turning it's back on God.
